Use the Vine brush technique to reach the rafters and collect your dues, then use the Galestorm technique on the flapping banners to the west to create platforms that let you reach the furthest chests in the room and the exit to the west. There are lots of chests hidden in the rafters of the room. Activate the first windmill to rotate the walkway, letting you continue through the hall to the west. Drop down the elevator shaft to return to the base level of the shrine.īacktrack to the north where you'll reach a walkway with two small windmills. You can use the Galestorm brush technique to earn the Gale Shrine Map from a chest near the elevator. Make your way back down the outdoor stairways to the third level of the tower. Your reward is the Galestorm brush technique. After restoring the divine winds, you'll need to complete a constellation by painting in the three missing stars. Follow Issun's instructions to cancel out the evil wind by painting wind strokes that flow opposite the direction of the black winds. Continue up the stairs, moving into a small enclosure before appearing in front of the large windmill.

The third floor opens up to a series of outdoor stairways. Defeat the chimera to earn a second Exorcising Arrow, then return to the elevator to rise to the third level and unlock the door you find. On this next level you'll find an enemy scroll that spawns a chimera enemy. Draw a Cherry Bomb in the center of the floor and you'll be catapulted to the second level of the shrine. Once through the door, the camera swings up to show you the floor. Approach the doorway and the Exorcising Arrow will open it up, letting you into the next area. Head west from here and you'll find a locked door next to an Origin Mirror. This category has a lot of the charm of both NG and NG+ mixed into one.Grab the Exorcising Arrow and return to the previous room with the pool of water. These are weaker variants which allow Ammy to climb up slopes and jump across water/lava, which makes a surprisingly big difference compared to NG Any%. Like I wrote above, the mid-air KT glitch is patched in these versions, but you can still do Slope and Liquid KT's. NG+ Any% on the 2017 versions (PC, PS4, Switch, and XBone), AKA NG+ 2017, is the newest major category.
The routing and resource management is very interesting. This is an NG category, so no KT's, and the huge amount of content covered means that a lot of major skips are omitted, but minor ones still all over the place.

Top Dog is the closest thing to a 100% category, defined by the official achievements originally included with the PS3 version.
Both Any% categories skip a few brush techniques, so this shows off some parts of the game you wouldn't otherwise see. There are All Brushes categories for both NG+ and NG, which sort of remix the routing of both in order to collect every brush technique, including the secret/upgrade techniques (e.g. The PC, PS4, Switch, and XBone versions are all equally fast for NG categories. There is a very thorough beginner's guide in both text and video format, which omits the absolute hardest tricks. The lack of the KT glitch makes the category longer, but it also means the tricks used are more creative and unique. NG Any% is a diverse categories with many hard tricks. The main downside is that the mid-air KT glitch was patched from later versions, so these categories are mostly run on the PS3 version. This makes NG+ categories very fast and broken. New Game+ allows the use of the KT glitch, which lets you do an infinite jump over any barrier. All of the major categories have their own interesting tricks and quirks, so there's lots to explore.
